Third Avenue Management LLC, a New York City-based investment adviser focused on value investing, is seeking a Real Estate Securities Analyst to join its Real Estate team in the Austin, TX office.

The Third Avenue Real Estate team adheres to a value-oriented, opportunistic approach to investing in the publicly traded securities of real estate and real estate-related companies globally. The team currently manages more than $750 million in dedicated real estate strategies, including the Third Avenue Real Estate Value Fund, which has more than a two decade track record making it one of the leading investors in publicly traded real estate securities globally.

In this role, the Real Estate Securities Analyst would primarily conduct industry research, perform bottom-up fundamental analysis in monitoring existing positions, and undertake deep-dive research in undervalued global real estate securities for the Third Avenue Funds. The findings from this work would be presented to the Real Estate group, as well as the broader Third Avenue investment team, through both verbal and written communication on a regular basis.


The ideal candidate for the position would have:

  • professional experience with analyzing and recommending investments in real estate securities or direct real estate
  • understanding of financial statements with the intentions of pursuing a CFA charter if not already held,
  • passion for value investing and real estate as illustrated through past work experience and/or education,
  • demonstrated academic success with a bachelor’s degree
  • desire to grow professionally by learning from and supporting a highly experienced team
  • ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented culture, and
  • willingness to take on occasional travel for property visits and other due diligence efforts.
